What plumbing certification does Tasmania require?

By Leadhand · Sources checked

In Tasmania, a plumber completes a Form 71B Standard of Work Certificate for permit or notifiable plumbing work when the work is finished, and sends it to the council permit authority with a copy to the owner. The council permit authority, not the plumber, issues the separate Form 21 Certificate of Completion. From 1 October 2026 the former CBOS functions moved to Consumer Affairs Tasmania and Building Standards Tasmania.[1][2]

Which form does what

Use the forms listed in the current Building Standards Tasmania directory, not older copies you have saved. The forms are different documents with different authors.

Not every job, and timing

Form 71B applies to permit or notifiable plumbing work. Confirm the statutory timing and the council's authorisation conditions with the permit authority as part of your close-out plan, and record the due date before work finishes.
